"Old and Gray"

Proverbs 20:29

"Grandpa, how come you have so much gray hair?" One of our 10, soon to be eleven, grandchildren asked me that question when they visited recently.  I love being grandpa to these little ones (all under the age of 8 by the way) and look forward to watching them grow into young men and women who follow the Lord.

There was a day when my "glory" was in my strength, or better stated, in my ability to run long distances.  My physical strength was something God had blessed me with and I enjoyed using it for my pleasure and His glory.  Unfortunately, as age has a way of doing, my knees no longer allow me to run without significant pain following the run.  As we age, our physical body deteriorates as we await the new body we will receive upon our arrival in Heaven.

As Proverbs 20:29 states, "Gray hair is the splendor of the old."  I guess that makes me OLD!  Along with the gray hair comes a sense of peace about the future with God and a renewed sense of purpose as it relates to training young men and women to follow Christ.  May God grant me strength to do what He has called me to; to present the love of Christ to people.

Grecian Formula 16?  Not me, I love the splendor of my gray hair!
